So I have been getting a lot of videos on my Instagram of people traveling. Like a guy and his friend going to a bar/restaurant in Tokyo, joking with the server and getting drunk with an increasingly drunk middle aged salary man while they freak out over a baseball game. Or these vloggers going to similar establishments which are having a slow day and are being run by old people who are very friendly and make good food. Or this guy who went for a hike in the Himalayas, met a friendly couple on said hike who ran a bakery and made him an apple momo, and then he relaxed at a small homey motel for the night on the same hike. Or even this video of a dad taking his daughter out and having her order pastries by herself while being very cute and excited. I have seen all these videos today and they have such a chill, friendly and communal vibe, I find myself in the mood for literature of a similar fashion.

I do enjoy slice of life anime (Natsume book of friends, After the Rain, I want to eat your pancreas, etc.) so I am also open to manga, webcomic, and anime recommendations. As for literature I own or have read similar to what I am looking for, I imagine the Hobbit, Wind in the Willows and To Kill a Mockingbird to be closest to this specific vibe. I have Grapes of Wrath and imagine some moments in the book to be like what I described, and I do imagine Ulysses to be similar as well, but I don't think reading it will be a leisurely experience for me.

I would love to hear your recommendations!
