Hi,
I am looking for a bit of a niche, I suppose. While not an active reader myself, I’ve been getting interested in a moral type of books which spark an emotional/dramatic reaction.
Usually slice of life/drama kind of stories where a character comes across a decision which they may or may not regret. And where a life lesson is learned and or similar.
For example the theme of selling your soul to the devil for something, but then regretting it at the end. Usually there is strong character development between the start and the climax.
Or sad/melancholic stories or short stories.
Basically a lot of the time the reader ends up feeling in a certain way. Its a bit tricky to describe but if you ever read something like this, you know what I’m talking about.
Or a movie ‘Garden State’ which plays a lot with the theme of mental health and other aspects such as money doesn’t buy you happiness type of thing.
Anyway, I would appreciate if you guys can give me some recommendations with strong character development, growth and breaking of the usual status quo.
