Hello! I’m looking to gift a (or a couple of) books to a reader. He likes popular science and history, I know a favorite is “A Short History of Nearly Everything”, some others I know he’s read are:
“Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman”
“The Guns of August”
“The Selfish Gene”
“The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire”
“Guns, Germs, and Steel”
So definitely looking for educational, but this is not for someone working in a science field. I’d love to find something as wonderful as the Bill Bryson one to give – I’ve read a couple of his other books but they were more like travel books, and even though I loved them I’m not sure if travel theme is what this giftee would want. Would folks who have read “A Short History..” recommend “The Body” and/or “At Home”?
Or any other popular science/history books hopefully with a dash of humor would be greatly appreciated! I overthink gifts.
