Trying to find a book to match the tone of a video game probably isn’t easy.
For those who haven’t played in a while or at all:
Halo 3: ODST has you, The Rookie, seemingly left behind in an abandoned alien infested city in the middle of a war. It’s night time, there’s battle debris, neon lights, and constant rainfall. You walk the city alone trying to find your team, following clues from one location to the next. All the while you fight off groups of aliens, to the sound of melancholic jazz.
I’m itching for a story that will fill that niche. An isolated fighter trying to get to safety or something, in some sci-fi or even some modern setting.
