This is a thread for people to share the books, shows, movies, poems, etc., that did a character dirty. They could have set the character up to be a hero only to make them a villain, they could have ignored circumstances in the creation of that villain, anything that shows the creator didn’t fully plan out their character arcs.
My opening example is Tamlin from the ACoTaR series. This is a man who gave everything for love. He set free the only being that could possibly help their situation, then when she returned he did everything he could to try and protect her against forces that he understood to be evil. When he thought she was in eternal peril, he was willing to sacrifice the entirety of his kind to keep her safe. For 3 full books now, they’ve trampled him and made light of the psychotic break he suffered at the hands of the one he loved. I can only pray to the God I don’t believe in that Maas plans on redeeming him in the upcoming books.
