Alright, so tonight I’ve finished another Koontz novel titled “Hideaway”. And here is the premise of the story that I read.
Hatch Harrison was in a fatal accident and was at first considered as clinically dead, that is until he was revived through miraculous means. He and his wife Lindsey now take their days with a new appreciation for life. But it is an appreciation that is now shadowed by the glimpses of death.
From the other side something has come back with him. A very horrible presence that has linked hatch’s mind with the mind of a psychopathic killer that’s on the loose. A truly dark force of homicidal rage that hides in every man.
This one at first seems like it’s going to be supernatural thriller when I first got it, but when I started reading it I was treated with a pretty good supernatural horror work. The suspense slowly builds up as the story progresses along and eventually picking up speed. Perspectives shift from one character to another.
Plus there is a pretty humorous afterward from the author detailing the ample amount of hate mail he got after the book was published and hit the store shelves, but of course every now and then big name writers get hate mail. And also an instance of a failed movie adaptation of it that he also mentions at length.
Still this is a pretty good horror novel from Koontz. And soon I’ll probably be reading another of his works eventually!
