I tagged this as self-help, but honestly I’d like to avoid any books that blatantly brand themselves that way. I’m just looking for interesting new perspectives that might change the way I look at socializing.
Why am I so harsh on myself for being awkward? How do I break into a three-way conversation and not feel rude about it? Do others also kinda fade into the background in group settings? What do I do when I can’t muster any interest in what someone else is talking about? How do I find common ground with people I can’t relate to? How do I stop constantly masking myself with robotic politeness and allow myself to be a little more charismatic again, without instantly attracting everyone’s attention because I’ve started acting a little differently than they’re used to? Essays and perspectives on that sort of thing.
Just not anything like “This is the first day of the rest of your life!! With my twelve step plan, you too can end this horrible sad affliction and become the extroverted and successful chick-magnet you were always meant to be!!”
