Two people I know have died this week – one a little boy of brain cancer and one a friend who died of an embolism in her brand new house while her husband was finalizing paperwork on the sale.
I’m pretty raw right now, to say the least. I want a new book to fall away into that is just all good vibes/minimal conflict without trying to teach me The True Meaning of Christmas, if that makes sense. So NOT The Midnight Library or The Alchemist or similar.
Good writing is important to me, so I don’t just want a trashy romance novel, however fun they can be at the right time! Here are some beloved books that fit the vibe I’m describing:
Anne of Green Gables
All Creatures Great and Small (and the rest)
The House In The Cerulean Sea
Piranesi
Winter Solstice
A Man Called Ove
Convenience Store Woman
Pride and Prejudice
Howl’s Moving Castle
Note: I really, REALLY love Neil Gaiman. I really, REALLY love Good Omens. I don’t like Terry Pratchett on his own. I have tried Discworld a half dozen times with a half dozen books. It doesn’t do it for me, sorry friends.
Thanks for reading this far. I’m just completely raw and need to get lost in some beautiful words. ♥️
