    Hey guys!

I’ve recently realized that large-scale stories around saving the world, a massive event, or anything similar don’t resonate with me anymore.

I find myself more drawn to personal stories involving a few characters with plots that have little to no consequences for anyone except the people directly involved.

I hope it’s alright if I use games as an example. Think, God of War 2018 compared to its direct sequel, God of War: Ragnarok. The first game was ultimately a story about a father and his son, and while it had high-stakes, the plot revolved around their relationship.

GoW: Ragnarok, however, was, to me, yet another story about “saving the world” / stopping a cataclysmic event, and it just ended up feeling… bland to me. My favorite moments from that game were still when a character is forced to reflect on themselves or the bond between one character and another.

If anyone has a book they can recommend within any genre, it doesn’t have to be a fantasy or father-son story based on my example, I’d really love to get your thoughts. Thanks!

Bonus points if it manages to balance humor with emotional moments
