i have tried a lot of books labelled as “funny” but they mostly contained witty phrases contained in a sentence or two, rather than the plot or the scenario itself being funny. Most of the times I end up smirking at the wit of the author rather than having a good laugh at the scene/situation, rarely do i ever laugh at jokes; wit and sarcasm only zones me out and take me away from the plot. The problem may be with me, idk, help me reddit, i want to laugh.
I’m sorry but I don’t think i have ever belly laughed reading a book that was not Three Men in a Boat or The Canterville Ghost, these two maybe were the only books i had a good time reading.
PS: “Witty” titles that i have read and didn’t laugh,:- The Martian, Hitchhiker’s Guide to Galaxy (please don’t kill me), Slaughter-House-Five, Good Omens, books by David Sedaris, Stiff by Mary Roach, One For the Money, Hyperbole & Half, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas
the aforesaid books are not bad books by any chance, i actually loved reading them, I just didn’t laugh.
