Reading has always been a struggle for me, although audiobooks have been helpful it’s still something that has always been challenging.
I have a very difficult time sticking with books that I’m not interested in, particularly if it’s a book that I feel like I’m “supposed to” read instead of actually enjoying reading.

What I’m looking for is a book I can get lost in. I’ve been trying to get into the habit of reading before bed, as a way to help wind down the day. any help you could give in terms of recommendations or even reading strategies would be greatly appreciated.

I’m currently reading “Master and Commander” by Patrick O’brian (if you haven’t seen the movie I cannot recommend it enough) and while I definitely do enjoy the book, I do find it a bit of a dense read.

I’ve also read some of the Hornblower books by C.S Forrester which are definitely more accessible in terms of writing style, but it doesn’t quite scratch that itch.

Some other books I’ve read and enjoyed include:
“Game of Thrones” by George RR Martin
    “Dune” by Frank Herbert
    “The Martian” by Andy Weir
“Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adam’s
“20,000 Leagues under the sea” by Jules Verne
    “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson
“Band of Brothers” by Stephen E.Ambrose
“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” by Steig Larson
and the entire Harry Potter series, which I still listen to semi regularly.
