This is lame but I haven’t read a book in a while, since College. I was wondering if there was any good recommendations. I am a 27 M. I am thinking something non-fiction. I enjoy game of thrones and Harry potter and pretty basic stuff but interested in any suggestions.
Thanks!

Sci-fi: Project Hail Mary
Fantasy: The Blacktongue Thief
Thriller/psychological horror: The Last House on Needless Street
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The Culture series by Iain M. Banks
Big HP fan here – I really enjoyed the Prison Healer trilogy. If you’re open to something a bit younger, I Am Number Four was a good read too.
RED RISING!!!! Great story that sucks you in and each book just gets better. There is one more book set to be released and there are rumors of it turning into a TV series sometime soon.
Love this series because nothing feels too “convenient”. There are no scraps that they just fall out of, there are actual consequences to their actions, and for the most part the characters are gray. You root for them, but they are not 100% good or bad.
If you’re interested in nonfiction, check out the website five books. It’s just lists of curated books and they have tons for nonfiction with short blurbs.
Some that I enjoyed recently myself:
* The Last Island (Goodheart). Short, engaging, unexpected
* Women’s Work: the First 20,000 Years. Tons about archaeology and early human cultures that I didn’t know
* Paths of Dissent. The war on terror happened when I was a kid, and by the time I was a teenager the country really didn’t want to talk about it. This book fills me in on so much that happened and is excellent in how many perspectives within the armed forces it takes. Easy to read since each is a fairly short essay
Maybe you’ll like The Human Entanglement by LP Magnus (grounded scifi)
Scifi: dune
Mystery: the 7½ deaths of evelyn hardcastle
