I’ve made a habit of watching movies after finishing books with my husband so he gets to know the story. There hasn’t been one yet that I truly enjoy the movie anywhere close to as much as the book
Not exactly the same thing, but I found the movie adaptation of Annihilation to be better than the book, although the book is okay in some respects. While the movie does forego some scenes in favor of new ones, the gist of the story is the same.

Carl Sagan’s **Contact**
The movie was reasonably faithful to the book; more emphasis on the romance aspect in the movie, the book had a more fleshed out story. The endings differed slightly (I preferred the ending in the book).

Cloud Atlas, (idr author) <- some don’t agree, but, while told in a different way, I really like how the movie wove the narratives more, and used largely the same cast for each time period.
