I was thinking recently reminded of some books i used to read lots of when i was a kid.
Sven Hassel is the author. He might not be well known in the english world. His books are over the top depictions of ww2. From the view point of a german soldier, in a unit made up of prisoners, deserters, communists.
The books are filled with anti nazi stuff, all the soldiers hate hitler even more than their enemies. But its also very anti establishment in general. The voice of the book seems to just want poor people to be left in peace.
Its very much about the abuse of power and the horrors of authoritarianism. Its also quite fatalistic. Brutal in the way it depicts war, atleast thats how i remember that.
Im wondering if you think such a thing would just be silly entertainment. Or something that could impact the way a person ends up being in a large way?
