I teach high school ELA and want to develop a new short-story unit. One of the texts I want to use is The Great Silence, a short story which is essentially about the Fermi Paradox and the nature of relationships between humans and animals. Does anyone have any short stories similar to this?
I would have liked to have taught it alongside “The Bookmaking Habits of Select Species” by Ken Liu, but the language is quite complex and would require me to go through it very slowly for my students to understand it.
