It can be of any genre but I am specially interested in science, technology, philosophy, business, novels (sci fi or other), etc . It would be much appreciated as there are so many books I haven’t read and probably will never read, I would like to get at least one book that changed your life. Thanks

The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison – fantasy, made me a much more hopeful person, helped me accept the compassionate side of myself when I used to view it as weak, helped me feel less alone
Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky – sci fi, helped my fear of spiders, opened my eyes to the what sci fi can be and what kinds of questions we can ask about personhood and life
A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold
When I was six, I read The Hobbit for the first time. It’s often seen as the simplistic precursor to the Lord of the Rings, but there’s so much that’s amazing about it. It taught me a lot about quests, sure, but also about the importance of being kind when you could be cruel, about leaders who seem like they should be great at it but aren’t (Thorin), and a lot about picking the right moment to be brave or clever. As someone who still reads a lot and fantasy specifically, it’s absolutely foundational but has huge value in its own right. Plus it’s just FUN. And a quick read. But even if you’re just reading it in your own head-do the voices.
