English is not my mother tongue. In order to not get discouraged, an English book needs to :
1) be a page turner
2) not too many pages because I read slowly in English
3) vocabulary is fairly easy to understand
I really enjoyed The glass castle, Normal people and Bad blood (thesaurus).
What do you recommend?

Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata is short, interesting, and set in present day (Japan) so I’ve lined it out to a few ESL students with a 100% hit rate. It helps that we’re in Japan, but the themes are pretty universal.
