I’m looking for books about true love, soulmates, can’t live without each other, etc.
I’d prefer something more written more like “Pride & Prejudice” vs. something like “It Ends With Us.” I’m not a huge fan of rom coms; I prefer something more serious (doesn’t mean there can’t be witty banter or something). If the book can make me cry also, thats a +
Thanks!

Jane Eyre?
Oh, this is a hard one! I really loved Last night at the telegraph club by Malinda Lo. It’s historical fiction, set in ‘50s San Francisco. The romance isn’t the main focus but it is pivotal to the story.
The time travellers wife is that book for me. I sob every time.
The first thing that comes to mind is Gilead and Lila by Marilynne Robinson. They’re both about many things other than love but they’re also certainly about lromantic committed love. E M Forster has some really beautiful books about love, especially A Room With A View. Ann Patchetts truth and beauty is about a friendship but it makes me cry every time, and her book Tom Lake is a really lovely examination of love and a long term relationship in light of past loves. The year of magical thinking is about Joan Didion mourning her husband but it’s a really beautiful and tragic exploration of love. Persuasion is one of my favorites of Jane Austen.
