Any good recommendations for a non fiction book on the war in Iraq/Afghanistan told from a solider’s point of view?
Found lots of other good books but they are all written by journalists or generals etc. I’m looking for something like a autobiography or memoir told by a “boots on the ground” type.

I wouldn’t sleep on Rick Atkinson. He’s a war correspondent but he was definitely in the thick of it. His book “In the Company of Soldiers” was good.
But if you really want something written by an actual soldier, “Blood Makes the Grass Grow Green” by Johnny Rico was very memorable.
Honorable mention: “War Reporting for Cowards” by Chris Ayres (I know you said no journalists, but it’s worth it). He was a brand new low-ranking correspondent working for a paper in the UK and he was sent to Middle East with the first wave of embedded journalists back in 2002 or maybe 2003. They threw him in with veteran war correspondents like Atkinson and he was terrified. It’s pretty funny.
Generation Kill is a fantastic book
The Afghanistan papers is a good read on the history of that particular altercation.
