I do! Because I often have trouble making decisions. Reading books recommended by my friends always saves me from that, and my friends will be very happy if I bring up that book after some time. So I won’t worry about finding someone to discuss the book after finishing it.
Sometimes I don’t immediately read the recommended books, but when I miss my friends and we can’t meet each other recently, I choose to read a book she recommended, as if she is here with me😆
And do you care whether your friend read the book you recommended? If you care about that, would you ask about it in a subtle way?

It depends on the friend and how well they know my tastes in books. But my friends also know I have a massive backlog of unread books, so they understand that even when I want to read a book they recommend it may take me awhile to get to it.
I’ll give them a try but it’s rare I actually enjoy it. My mother in-law has given me two books that I ended up really enjoying, but that’s it. I’m fairly particular about my books
I have… it really wasn’t my cup of tea. I haven’t read her other suggestions because I just don’t think our reading preferences match at all.
It depends on the friend. Certain friends’ recommendations carry way more weight than others for various reasons. But yes, I have tried books that my friends have recommended before, and it is always very gratifying to get a recommendation, read it, and have it turn out to be a good book.
It depends on the friend. I’ve discussed books with some, and they’re self aware and have a good idea of why I like the books I like. So they’ll recommend interesting books they’ve read and liked that they think I’ll be interested in.
Others just recommend books, and I’ll give it a shot if it’s not too long. But that’s a lot more hit and miss.
Yes, with the caveat that there are some books that are an instant no from me (no, I will not be reading your self published religious work though I love you as a friend). I also prioritize some recommendations.
