My wife and I are both readers, it’s one of the things we have in common, but have very different tastes. I read mostly fantasy, sci-fi and horror with some classics and history/biography thrown in. Steven King is probably my favorite. She is mostly a mystery, thriller and non-fiction reader. She enjoys Agatha Christie for reference. We love talking about books but it’s often one sided conversations as one of us just summarizes a book to the other.
Recently, we discussed reading a book together but it’s somewhat difficult to bridge the gap in personal tastes. We both do a lot of audiobooks so anything with good performances would be a plus. Looking for suggestions, thanks in advanced!

You guys might like Ruth Ware. The Turn of the Key and The Death of Mrs. Westaway are both great mysteries similar to Agatha Christie. Since you like Stephen King I’d start with The Turn of the Key. It’s not sci-fi but it does sort of hint at supernatural elements (without being supernatural).
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
Malibu Burning (or Calico) by Lee Goldberg
Sounds like reading the old Sherlock Holmes stories may bridge your gap quite nicely though. 🙂
They’re a bit older, but Asimov’s Robots series are sci fi mysteries so might give you each something to latch onto.
The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco (mystery classic in accurate medieval setting)
Maybe a historical mystery book like [Fortune Favors the Dead](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/eb8c7ae9-41b0-442b-b3f1-8e01870fe219) by Stephen Spotswood?
