Hello, as title suggests I only tend to pick up fantasy lately. I do love crime thriller and mysteries as well as historical fiction but it has been a while since i have read any other genre within fiction.
Please suggest me a great immersive read which is non-fantasy (fiction only).
All sub genres welcome except romance please. I don’t mind it as a subplot but I don’t tend to read books where romance is the main plot.
Thanks

How about a dystopia? [Unwind](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/13643974-53b8-40c5-82f9-553b746d3669) by Neal Shusterman is a great one.
Some mysteries and histfic I liked last (and this) year:
* **The Years of the Voiceless by Okky Madasari**
* **Black River by Matthew Spencer**
* **Anjelica Henley series**
* **Mark Ariti series by Margaret Hickey**
* **Gemma Woodstock series**
* **Traced by Catherine Jinks**
* **The House of Now and Then by Jo Dixon**
* **Doc by Mary Doria Russell**
* **Ibis Trilogy by Amitav Ghosh**
* **Song of the Sun God by Shankari Chandran**
* **The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle**
* **The Unbelieved by Vikki Petraitis**
* **Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister**
* **The Queen of Jasmine Country by Sharanya Manivannan**
* **Sam Wyndham series by Abir Mukherjee**
* **Perveen Mistry series by Sujata Massey**
* **Kaveri and Ramu series by Harini Nagendra**
* **Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng**
* **In Memoriam by Alice Winn** – note, this is borderline for me. It does have a significant chunk devoted to the romantic relationship/love story, but it’s also very… let’s just say realistic.
