I’m looking for a book with the same level of world building as souls games, ideally with lovecraftian elements in the genre of fantasy and/or sci-fi. I love the worlds created in those games and the interactions between powerful ancient beings. The lore of the games fascinate me and I’m wondering if there are any books that can replicate the feeling of those worlds?

    1. Here are a few:

      * The Stars Are Legion by Kameron Hurley. Reminds me a lot of Bloodborne because it’s also super meaty and gross, and is about cycles and whether you can break out of them. However, it’s a space opera, it does not *at all* have the same Victorian aesthetic.

      * The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe. You will feel small and lost, very much like the Dark Souls games. This has been published as four smaller volumes, one big volume, and everything in between. I’ve only read the first two because I found an edition of the first two in one book.

      * All Tomorrows by C. M. Kosemen. This one is available free online, and captures that sense of incredible amounts of history and time having passed before you got here. However, it’s strictly sci fi, there’s no fantasy elements.
