Suggest an adventure novel. I usually read fantasy fiction, zombie or post apocalyptic , Jack Reacher style books. I need a break from sword and sorcery so fancy a boys own adventure for adults.
I loved Louis l’amour last of the breed , years ago I read quite a few Alaistair MacLean books too so perhaps something modern along those lines?
*The Martian* – It’s not exactly a standard adventure novel, but it certainly has some of the same feel as something like Robinson Crusoe.
*Rendezvous with Rama* – Similar to The Martian, it’s sci-fi but it shares similar themes of exploration, survival, and the unknown with a lot of adventure stories.
*Ringworld* – Same as the other two, it’s sci-fi but definitely has adventure themes.

I’m a huge fan of Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey/Maturin series of novels. They are the story of a British ship captain and his good friend who is the ship’s doctor. The Russell Crowe movie “Master & Commander” is based on these books.
Fair warning – the first 100 pages or so of first book reads like a Jane Austen novel, all about marriage prospects and dance balls, but then it kicks in and it’s a blast.
