We have an annual book fair in my city and I buy my stock for the whole year at once from there.
Please suggest all the absolute best fiction I should get this year.
To give an idea, here are some of the books I got/read last year:
1. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
2. Murakami – Men without women
3. The God of small things
4. A Little Life
5. Shuggie Bain

The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff
Edith Holler by Edward Carey (this one’s impossible to categorize, but you might want to look at the description to see if it’s your thing. I’m actually confident that Vaster Wilds is everybody’s thing (or should be!))
The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn
Funny thing is I generally avoid historical fiction and all three of these are historical fiction, but they all looked so interesting that gave them a chance and they turned out to be three of my favorite books from last year 🙄😁
Babel by RF Kuang
Is the book fair only with books published in the calendar year of 2023?
I have the following books on my list. Feel free to steal them:
Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Order of Time by Carlo Rovelli
Reality is Not What it Seems by Carlo Rovelli
Ethics by Aristotle
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
Better by Atul Gawande
I can go on and on, but these are a few that I am excited for. From this, you can probably guess that I am trying to explore some Classics, Physics, and Philosophy books.
If you liked the God of Small Things I think you’ll like The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende.
