I love anything whimsical, especially involving nature and science. I also like mysteries a lot. I recently read “Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie” and I liked the feeling of the book a lot (the story was just okay). I’m looking for more books with that kind of whimsical feeling and those kind of quirky characters.

Mr Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
I Have a Bed Made of Buttermilk Pancakes by Jaclyn Moriarty
Tress of the Emerald Sea
Some of Connie Willis’s novels fit this bill: To Say Nothing of the Dog, Bellwether, Crosstalk, The Road to Roswell. Beware that several of her other novels really can’t be called whimsical!
I read a lot of middle grade books, largely because they’re more often whimsical than YA and adult books, but here are some adult books that I think qualify:
– [The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/bea60a60-8dc1-416f-98b3-8ecff3039d0d)
– [Legends & Lattes](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/34c66d4e-2363-4a88-a43e-40baacae7afa)

Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones
*Sourdough* by Robin Sloan might scratch this itch.
