I want a fairly easy read, but something that is considered a classic. And something profound. I’ve read east of eden, count of monte cristo, 1984, gatsby, brave new world, some of quixote (I have a reason for stalling on that one), quite enjoyed them all.
Something like those, in terms of difficulty would be nice. But I wouldn’t mind branching out in terms of genre. Whatever length is good.
And, I may end up listening to a hefty chunk on audiobook. So something that would be audibly comprehensible would be delightful.
Thanks much

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson is a great read with some really solid writing
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway easy but heavy read
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Jane Eyre is easy enough to read. In fact parts of it feel quite modern. It’s also one of my favorite books and stories.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie comes to mind as an easy and fast-paced classic.
To Kill a Mockingbird is a wonderful book.
I also love the Anne of Green Gables books. I’m not sure if profound, but just a lovely, innocent story
