I’ve always struggled with remembering the details of books after finishing them, and sometimes, even while I’m reading a book, I struggle to keep up with what’s happening. Because of that, it’s hard for me to commit to a full book series because I always forget what happens between book releases. I like several fantasy series that I would love to catch up on, but I already feel lost on the plot. That’s partially why I gave up on Brandon Sanderson’s books. His shared universe was really exciting at first, but it just got too wordy and complicated for me, and there were too many details to keep up with. Still, at least there are online resources to lay out what’s happening, like [coppermind.net](https://coppermind.net/wiki/Coppermind:Welcome), which is a wiki for all of Sanderson’s work. Most of the other authors that I like, like John Bierce and Larry Correia, don’t have that, so I just feel confused. I actually gave Bierce’s books up for the same reason. There was too much worldbuilding and exposition, and I couldn’t keep track on what was going on in the larger plot.

I want to know if anyone here has had a similar issue. I’d love to hear some stories or advice.
