So I just started getting into reading fiction, and I absolutely loved Gone Girl. But not so much because of the thriller/mistery/crime aspect, and mostly because of the character study of Amy and Nick, and the dynamics of their relationship. I also enjoy mundane stories with darker themes, so that book was a perfect fit for me. Now I’m really looking forward to read something similar but nothing has caught my attention yet. Any suggestions?

Ottessa Moshfegh sounds right up your alley. Try *My Year of Rest and Relaxation* or *Eileen*. Fantastic character studies of morally grey and mentally unstable young women. I also suggest *My Husband* by Maud Ventura, short read and not really “dark” in the Gone Girl way but VERY psychologically complex with a fun ending.

Give this mafia romance a try; it’s about the crime syndicate world: Book 1: The Lone Guardian of the Road to Redemption series by Lexus Knight
