I’ve recently started reading again! I abandoned endless scrolling on social media and chose to download the Kindle app with a Kindle Unlimited subscription. I started this new habit about 6 weeks ago and I have already finished 9 books. am I going too fast through them? I remember the characters and the general gist of the plot for each one. how many books do you read in 2 months?

OP you gotta feel this out for yourself 😀 if we can’t escape being self-conscious reading then where the effing cuss can we escape being self-conscious??? Your mind probably has some unfurling to do if you’ve been more of a social media junkie for a while. Just sit with it and don’t push 🙂
How long is a piece of string?
It depends on countless things, not least of which is what books you’re reading. If you’re reading maximalist tomes then 9 in 2 months is probably quite a lot and I’d wonder whether you’re giving them your full attention. Otherwise you’re probably fine.
Don’t rush through books just so you can say you’ve read them and let your “books read” counter tick up but aside from that I wouldn’t worry about it.
I usually read anywhere from 1 – 5 books per month, depending on size but I usually read large novels so the average is 2-3. I generally want to remember nearly all the characters and details of the book so I take my sweet ass.
Only you can really answer whether you’re reading too fast or not. Do you feel you might enjoy the books more if you read them slower? then read them slower. Are you comfortable enough with the details you do remember to move on to the next book? If so then that’s all that matters.
Just don’t fall into the weird competitive trap of reading as many books as possible and treating it as some sort of high score against other people who read. That shit’s weird.
Reading is for your personal enjoyment, OP. There’s no right or wrong reading speed!
