Just finished “The Fury”, Alex Michaelides third and newest novel.
As I’m digesting the book, my initial thoughts are that Michaelides LOVES an unreliable narrator—and in this case, half of the story is imagined by him, so the suspense aspect is based on a lie?
As a reader, you are fed scenarios for chapters only to get to a certain page and be told “well that’s what I wanted to happen, but here’s what really happened.” This is a trick, not a thriller in my opinion?
I’ve read both the Silent Patient and The Maidens, and really loved the first. The Maidens was frustrating to read imo.
Anyway, would love thoughts!
