My new years resolution is to read at least one new book every month! I used to be an avid reader as a teenager, but since I’ve gone to college I haven’t had as much time. I am graduating in may so I want to pick the hobby back up.

I recently read Sara J. Mass’s A Court of Thorns and Roses. I liked it well enough for the romance and \*spice\* but I am not interested in reading the rest of the series, as it veers into darker territory and that’s not really my cup of tea.

I really just want to read books that will cheer me up: fluffy romance, funny characters, interesting worlds. I tend to favor fantasy or historical settings over contemporaries, but I am down to try anything.

I am a huge fan of the classics: Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, I’ll even read some Charles Dickens–but as a college English major I am a bit exhausted of them, and I really just want to read for fun.

    My guilty pleasure books are:

    The Selection by Kiera Cass

The Duke and I by Julia Quinn (or the first two Bridgerton books in general)

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clair

The Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books–even if they are for children.

I know that my dream book probably does not exist, but I would love to find a book that has thoughtful prose, good grammar, thematic integrity (or a theme in general), sweet romance (friends-to-lovers or even rivals-to-lovers, I’m not super into the drama of enemies-to-lovers anymore, but I can read it), and an acceptable level of intimacy (I think that ACOTAR had a good balance of actual romance and intimacy–I don’t want to read a book that’s only written to be straight-up p\*rn tho)

Sorry I have written so much (but I bet if you are in the subreddit you like to read lol).

TLDR: Suggest me a sweet book that can make me forget that I am reading.
