I have just read The Shimmer of the Herring and A Sparkle of Salt by Evelyn Hood and absolutely love the history of fishing communities in the UK. I’d love to read more family saga style books set in these communities. I’m especially into the gendered roles within the community/women’s lives as bait gatherers and herring gutters/packers. I know this is niche!!!!
