Yeah well, as the title says. Currently reading funny books with a lot of satire and humour. Heard that Pratchett should be a fun read, and so I stumbled upon this collection which I bought. What should I start with to get me hooked? Thanks in advance!

I mean… I would follow the order they were written but you’re missing The Colour of Magic. So, on your list the first would be The Light Fantastic.

Mort is a great introduction to Death, one of Sir Pterry’s central Discworld characters. Soul Music is my favourite book but then I’m a music nerd so the inside jokes in that one were amazing. Good Omens (with Neil Gaiman) is a fantastic standalone book. And some of those are probably more designed for a younger market but will still read well anyway. There are many online guides for reading order so you could start there I guess
**Good omens**. It’s a stand-alone and lets you know if you like his works or not. Although it’s written by both him and Neil Gaiman. Also **Guard! Guard!** is a good introduction to **Discworld** series. **Discworld** is a gigantic series and people start from different books. I personally started with this one and didn’t regret it.
Not The Light Fantastic, that’s the only direct sequel in Discworld and doesn’t make sense without The Colour of Magic.
Mort or Guards! Guards! are both good places to start Discworld. Truckers is the start of the Bromeliad and you have all three books in that series. Good Omens is a standalone.
Good Omens or Small Gods are standalone, so a good place to start. Both are quite religion focused if that’s a factor for you.
Otherwise, depending on your preferences:
Guards Guards – good fantasy underdog story.
Feet of Clay – mystery novel
Soul Music – Rock n roll
Moving Pictures – Hollywood
Hogfather – Christmas
Some of those are in the middle of longer chains of novels but honestly I don’t think it matters too much, just read one that sounds cool to you
Throw them in a bag, shake them around, reach in and grab one without looking. Reafld that. Repeat until the bag is empty
It doesn’t really matter which order you read them in. Even when they refer to past events or things you learned in other books the stories never hinge on that and you can read past it without missing much
Don’t fret over the order, just grab a book and read
