I love reading psychological thrillers / mysteries / crime novels and for some reason the last few I’ve tried have all had pregnant characters or miscarriage discussion/themes that I wasn’t aware of based on reading the book description. I’m currently grieving a miscarriage and I’ve been trying to keep my nose in a book to avoid spiraling on social media / and distract myself and I would just prefer to avoid these topics for some time.
Some of my favorite thrillers from the past are:
All the Gillian Flynn books, The Silent Patient,
I also like a handful of the Lisa Jewell or Mary Kubica mysteries.
Some of my other favorite authors in general are Kristin Hannah, Emily Giffin, Lisa See, Elizabeth Gilbert, Phillipa Gregory, Taylor Jenkins Reid (to understand my vibe)
Open to suggestions for whatever!

Simone St. James writes a cracking creepy mystery/thriller. They have ghosts/hauntings, very detailed and real, and often have a present/past plot. Set in current times: *The Broken Girls*, *The Book of Cold Cases*, *The Sundown Motel*. Five or six set in the past, as well, in the 20s, 30s, 40s. *The Broken Girls* might, I can’t quite recall, have a minor character that is disowned because she gets pregnant.
I liked something in the water by Catherine steadman! She has some other books but i can’t remember if they have pregnancy themes. I’m so sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage last summer and felt like I kept picking up books with miscarriages unexpectedly in them too. No fun.
