I am an aspiring medieval fantasy writer and I would love to read a book (multiple, actually) on medieval times — specially medieval England and also empires that had a wide influence.
Can never go wrong recommending Le Morte d’Arthur, by Malory. Its the quintessential story to King Arthur.
Otherwise in non-fiction, I read Medieval England 1066-1485, by Maurice Powicke last year. Its more a collection of lectures on the time period, but found it very informative.
Early Medieval Europe 300-1000, by Roger Collins is also a good text book. Yes it focuses on all of Europe, but it does go into detail about England too.
