I’m going to book club with three of the friends. I’ve got the one friend who suggests science type books, ready player One, Neil deGrasse Tyson books that sort of thing. I got the one friend who suggest fantasy books like Assassin’s Blade or Children of Blood and Bone. And my other friend usually suggests mystery books like Agatha Christie style books.

I usually like to go for more off the Wall books my last two suggestions were fight club and fear and loathing in Las Vegas. But I need something a little weird this time. I was thinking The Trial by Franz Kafka. But maybe it’s not weird enough. I need something weirder something that’s probably going to get me pulled aside and talk to you or maybe thrown into a mental hospital.

What’s the weirdest book I could pick for book club?

    1. Imagine aliens come to earth and eradicate 99% of the human race.

Then they force the remaining humans into a monster-filled dungeon, broadcasting it across the universe for their own entertainment as humans are terrorized, slaughtered, and maimed. Also, there’s a malevolent AI that controls the whole game. The AI also has a foot fetish.

*Dungeon Crawler Carl* by Matt Dinniman.

    2. I’m not going to ask why, but your does raise the question. Anyway, this one isn’t exactly what you’re asking for but since you have 2 other people in teh group who don’t share your fascination with weirdness, you might want to look at The Nose by Gogol. A guy gets up in the morning, looks in the mirror, sees his nose is missing and decides to go looking for it. For quality weirdness you’re in good hands with Gogol.

    3. Crooked Little Vein by Warren Ellis

But for a little less batshit, Car by Harry Crews is about a guy whose going to eat a car.

“Monstrilio” by Gerardo Sámano Córdova. Grieving woman cuts out her dead son’s lung and starts to feed it.
