I just finished the book, none of my friends have read it so i came to reddit to discuss, as one does. I saw how much everyone hates the book and I was so shocked! I can acknowledge the writing wasn’t the strongest at times—a lot of word/phrase repeating, but despite that I loved it.
A lot of people are upset because they feel like it makes no sense— Adam waking up next to a dead body and doing whatever he did and not noticing she was dead. It makes sense for Adam, all throughout the book he shows us who he is— a selfish, delusional, unfaithful man. of course he didn’t notice she was dead, he was too worried jucing himself up about the great sex he just had. he’s a shallow man who can’t accept how truly clueless and weak he is. He was so self obsessed the whole time— worrying about himself. classic case of mommas boy!!
People also say it makes no sense that we were reading sarah’s internal thoughts yet not knowing she killed her. IT MAKES PWRFECT SENSE!! she’s a big shot lawyer, she knows she’d be a prime suspect if she let up even a little bit. she had to play the part so hard she convinced herself to pull it off. Her and Bob had to hate each other— it would’ve been to suspicious for him and her to be buddy buddy.
I loved the book and I have so much more to say but it’s 3 am so i’ll leave it at that
