Hi, everyone!! I’m looking for a good audiobook to listen to while I’m doing some spring cleaning.

I loved Fairy Tale by Stephen King it’s my favorite listen. But I liked The Green Mile, also (tried to get Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption but couldn’t find the audiobook).. and some of the physical books I’ve read that I enjoyed were his Dark Tower series, and Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. 99.9% of the books I read are non-fiction, but my brain could really use a break from fact with some good fiction.

I like fantasy stories the most like the first 2 stories I mentioned, but I also like dark fantasy. Historical fiction like The Devil in the White City are a little harder to enjoy because I feel like writers of the genre at more interested in the connections in historical accuracy and it almost reads like a text book which is harder to stay engaged with, but Erik Larson’s book took me by surprise and I can totally get into historical fiction with his writing style if you’re familiar with it.

And as a note, I know some people associate Stephen King with horror, but Fairy Tale is not that kind of book. I’ve never read a horror book (I read Thinner by King as a teen but it didn’t really read as a scary book) because I don’t like scary movies. I’m not really sure if horror reads translate as well as movies, but I’ve avoided them in case they do ☺️🫣 I don’t like being scared and I live alone on an island with less than 900 residents and less street lighting than a single block on mainland (there isn’t a single traffic light, either) .. it’s pitch black most winter nights.. I’m not sure if my heart can take the dread hehe..

Anyway… if anyone is familiar with the books I’ve mentioned and have any good read suggestions, please share! If you’re not familiar and need more information, don’t hesitate to ask! Thank you in advance ☺️

‘Rita Heyworth and the Shawshank Redemption’ was one of for short stories collected under *Different Seasons*. Not entirely sure it will work, but you might be best searching for the audio book with that name. Believe it may also have been published under the name *Apt Pupil*, another of the short stories from the collection when the film for that one was released. It’s worth the look.
