    exactly as the title suggests!

looking for books for the unhinged girlies but too many of the popular titles i’ve read recently are just vibes, no plot.

echoing what someone else here has said about having their brain rotted by the internet — hoping for a book that is propulsive and has an actual plot due to the aforementioned rotted brain — but also not overly dumb and simplistic…..would like something more lit fic; not typically a fan of YA.

for reference, books i’ve loved are: yellowface by rf kuang, who is maude dixon by alexandra andrews, eileen by ottessa moshfegh, thin girls by diana clarke

    thank you in advance!

Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield is a beautifully written surreal queer story about grief and the monstrousness in the depths of the sea.

Bad Cree by Jessica Johns is an Indigenous wendigo horror that shines in its portrayal of grief and family bonds among women.

    3. You could try Bunny by Mona Awad. It’s definitely a strange book and people usually either love it or hate it, but I loved it and it was a quick read with a plot!

Edit to add, you may also like Idlewild by James Frankie Thomas – the characters are in high school but I don’t think it comes across as YA

    4. Oh you must try Mill on the Floss by George Elliot. This book is a – sad girl and her never ending miseries all through the book with a plot – personified.

      Good read no doubt.
