SAD got my ass in a bind. Usually reading brings me so much joy, but I’ve been really down recently and unable to retain my usual interests. I started The Godfather about a month ago and have yet to finish it. It’s a mediocre book, and I need something more riveting to look forward to (the plot is okay, the delivery is lacking).
I don’t really have a preference on genre; I am trying to get myself back into writing (another passion of mine), which is even trickier than reading. I think induging in a book with thoughtful prose and a developed writer’s voice will be educational and inspire me to put my pen to page once again. Because of my low motivation/brain power, something on the shorter side (let’s say <250 pages) would be preferred. I have both interest in more pensive pieces as well as humorous ones.
As a personal side note: I read a lot in my youth and then went a long time throughout teen years and early adulthood without reading much at all. I’m behind on a lot of classics and literary staples, and I would like to become better versed such works. If there is a classic (even if more esoteric) piece that fits the ticket, let me know, though I am not opposed to modern books. Thank you all!
