I want likeable flawed characters who make mistakes. I prefer not to have chapters from the murderer’s perspective, but that’s not a deal breaker. I prefer novels where it’s not a serial killer, and where the crimes aren’t over-the-top outlandish. I’d also prefer the killer not to be obsessed with the detective and prefer the killer not to start hunting the detective.
I love Tana French, Michael Connolly, Robert Galbraith, Mo Hader, David Swinson, Adrian McKintey, Elly Griffiths, and Stieg Larsson.
I don’t care for Lee Childs, Agatha Christie, Laura Lippmann, Kate Atkinson, or Sue Grafton.
