Looking for some suspense/thriller type book suggestions, please?
Unreliable narrators are great and obviously with suspense/thriller stories, there is going to be an element of secrets coming out / slow unfolding – all great and wonderful. Haunted houses, gothic, paranormal or horror aspects – even better (whether real or not).
The last few books I’ve read though have had narrators/main characters who do nothing but reference their big, dark scary secrets and/or drinking problems. Right now, I’m listening to “The Stranger Upstairs” and it’s the same kind of thing. Repeating about her hidden secrets and failing marriage. It feels more like “filler” than part of the story.
I hope this makes any sense. But stories where there might be broken/unreliable characters and secrets and unease – but it’s not repeatedly just *told* – and just a good overall plot? Thank you!
