A book with realistic vampires

I’ve already read Bram Stokers Dracula, but I don’t think I’ve ever read any other vampire books! I’m in the mood for something dark and dreary, I don’t really mind what the plot is as long as it’s at least mildly interesting, maybe something that is not modern but I don’t mind either way. I feel like Vampires are so watered down in modern media that they’ve lost the fear factor, so preferably something that reminds you that these undead beings are literally an abomination and genuinely pretty terrifying when you get down to it.
