Hi!
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for YA books that have Thai/Filipino/Indigenous Elements, such as mythology, etc. It doesn’t have to just be Thai or Filinpino strictly, those are just some examples of the type of niche I wanna explore. Horror is my main thing, but I’d be open to other genres!
I’ve read a lot of East Asian fiction, and really love that general setting, but I want to expand my horizons!
Books I’ve read that I really enjoyed (and would LOVE to read something similar to them):
* The Silence Of Bones / The Forest Of Stolen Girls by June Hur (personal faves!)
* Wicked Fox duology by Kat Cho (my other personal faves!)
* Gorgeous Gruesome Faces by Linda Cheng (I can’t *wait* for the sequel)
* The Girl From The Well duology by Rin Chupeco
* Flame In The Mist duology by Renée Ahdieh
* Shadow Of The Fox trilogy by Julie Kagawa
* She Is A Haunting by Trang Thanh Tran
* The Scarlet Alchemist by Kylie Lee Baker
* Forest Of A Thousand Lanterns series by Julie C. Dao (I loved the first book’s darker tone but the second book/spinoff were a bit too middle grade for me
I look forward to any and all recommendations!

For a horror novel that expertly intertwines folklore and the fears of modern society, ‘The Changeling’ by Victor LaValle is a book I often find myself recommending. It’s a dark fairy tale for the contemporary world, exploring themes of parenthood, trust, and the horrors that can hide in plain sight.
