One odd trend I’ve found is that I love a book with a maze or labyrinth: Piranesi, The Starless Sea, Maze Runner, House of Leaves, HP Gauntlet of Fire, The Shining; and the movies The Labyrinth and Pan’s Labyrinth. (I’ve consumed those)
