To Dance with Kings (Rosalind Laker).

I’m not a romance fan, but this is a gorgeous, multigenerational historical romance about four women whose lives were tied to Versailles. It begins with the transformation of Versailles from simple hunting lodge to palace (so during the time of Louis XIV) and continues through the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI… and of course, the Revolution. Throughout the entire book, the scene-setting is amazing.

It’s been a few years since I read it, but damn, it was SO good.

    2. Fallen Angels by Bernard Cornwell. About half is set in France and half in England during the revolution
