The Kingskiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss might be up your alley! They’re epic fantasy with a lot of interesting complex characters and a fun magic system. A little more high fantasy than GoT, but the larger world feels very intriguing and is full of different groups with competing goals.

    2. Different scope, less grad scale, but something I like better is Abercrombie’s The First Law Trilogy. Great Fun. And he actually develops characters instead of just killing them off. 😉

The Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty. political machinations, schemes and complex characters, though with a more clear heroes vs villains divide than got, and also a lot more magic

The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu. this has all the schemes you could possibly want, but while the characters are complex and varied I didn’t really get attached to them. This is the first in a complete series, I haven’t read the sequels yet.

The Radiant Emperor duology by Shelley Parker-Chan. this one has political machinations, schemes and complex characters (to the point where there basically are no clear heroes or villains at all) and is one of my favorite series, but your mileage may vary on that depending on how willing you are to read about terrible people, because the protagonists are all kind of awful
