I am looking for urban fantasy novels similar to *Percy Jackson*, *The Last Magician* series, or *The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue*, with magic and mythology in the setting of present day Earth.
I would prefer to read books that take place in the vicinity of our present day, between 2000-2100. *Harry Potter* is too far in the past and is contemporary, HG Wells *The Time Machine* is absurdly far in the future in a different time period entirely.
Are there any books with a vibe like this:
A dragon flying too close to an airport gets yelled at by a police helicopter, and asked to turn around and leave the no-fly zone. Magic is regulated, licensed, and magic infused technology is used in urban infrastructure. Alchemy is big business, with corporations cornering the market on magic potions.
Fitting the modern-day theme of diversity and inclusivity, attempts have been made to coexist with non-humanoid sapient creatures. There are parts of cities built to accommodate their unique needs and limitations.
Because myth and magic has always existed, even if it’s in secret, world history has been affected and includes mythical creatures.
