My brother is in jail and asked if I could find some nonfiction books for him. He’s got a slew of thick fiction titles but is looking for a change.
I quote, “… You think you could help [my girlfriend] research some good, preferably thick ones? I was looking for stuff about the ancient world like Alexander the great or stuff like that. Oh and maybe some theology books (from a purely academic viewpoint of course) cuz I have no idea where to even tell her to start.”
I’m not too versed on what’s out there within the context of what he’s looking for. Any suggestions? And for those who don’t know, it must be paper back and must be orderable from Amazon or books a million. Thanks!

Barbara Tuchman’s *The Guns of August* is my favorite non-fiction book. Goes into fascinating detail of the events leading up to WWI.
Shake hands with the devil by Romeo dallaire
The Evolution of God, by Robert Wright.
The Alphabet Versus the Goddess, Shlain.
The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Gibbon (multiple volumes)
Plato, Complete Works
The Dawn of Everything, Graber and Wengrow
